Hockey History As Told By Cardboard - - Jaden Schwartz

Schwartz recorded a six game points streak from October 14 -27, 2017 totaling eight points (5-3) as the Blues went 4-1-1 over that stretch.

The Blues at that point earned points in five straight, improving to 8-2-1, the fourth best start to a campaign in franchise history.  At that point in the season, Schwartz ranked 3rd in the NHL with 7 goals, 8 assists in 11 games. This point was an assist on Brayden Schenn's GWG.

Hockey History As Told By Cardboard - Keith Tkachuk

Keith Tkachuk became just the 28th US-Born player to skate in his 1,000 career NHL game on December 1, 2007.  This also make him the 224th player in NHL history to hit the coveted 1,000 games played.

In a 3-1 win over the Chicago Blackhawks, Tkachuk had a helper on the 3-0 goal, finding Mike Johnson in the high slot. The Legend of Melrose Mass would finish his career with over 1,200 games played, good enough for 112th on the all time games played list between Owen Nolan and HHOFer Brian Leetch.

Huge Bill Guerin For The PC

Huge I tells ya!!  HUGE!!

Well if you are thinking I pulled some sick, monster, mojo hit then you would be wrong.  If you were thinking I scored some super-rare, rookie, auto, patch, DNA sample card you would also be wrong.

What I did get was in fact huge though.  As in size.

The auction that I bid on said that this was a 2006-07 Upper Deck BAP Dual Signatures of Bill Guerin and Doug Weight.  Here was the auction picture of the card.  Other than the full bleed to the edge on all sides, I didn't really notice anything different about this one.

Then a 9x12 padded mailer showed up at my door.  I wondered what it could have been since I hadn't ordered anything that large or bought any lots that may have to be packaged that way.  Once I opened it, I realized that this was no ordinary card.  It is an 8x10 sized card, almost like a photo.

Here it is against my computer monitor to give you an idea of the size (although you can still see Wayne's giant forehead behind them).

The "card", if you can call it that, is pure awesomeness.  For one, it is a dual auto of two great role players.  Second, it shows Billy G in a St. Louis uniform.  His stint with the Blues was short lived and there are not a lot of cards out there with him wearing Blues digs.  And finally, its another card I don't have in my Billy G. collection.

Ice Time: Red Wings vs. Blues

Boredom is an interesting thing. It makes you do things that are totally out of the ordinary sometimes. I was just sitting here finishing up watching the Wings/Blues game. Normally I wouldn't have bothered but I love watching teams beat Detroit. It's one of my favorite things. I can't figure out why.

Some random thoughts on this game.

--Detroit loses in a shoot out. The shoot out is such a ridiculous way to settle a game. It is sure a helluva lotta fun to watch though.

--I had an argument with the Mrs. about how fights in hockey are a part of the game. She thinks it is simply testosterone infused rage typical of the male disposition. I promptly showed her some women's hockey fight videos as well as a few of the kids. That shut her up.

--TJ Oshie is only 23 years old and is one of the best actors I have ever seen. I think he drew at least three penalties in this game.

--Chris Mason looked awesome in this game compared to his hideous performance last night when he was pulled. What a bounce-back performance.

--I didn't realize how many insert cards from the last two years I have of St. Louis Blues players. I lost count of all the Brad Boyes cards. Weird.

--The last 3 minutes of overtime were crazy with at least a dozen odd man rushes into each others end.

--Bill Patrick made a Spice Girls reference in the post-game report. Why do these guys suck so bad? Can't they find a studio team that is at least half palatable? I would even take Barry Freakin' Melrose over these guys. That's saying a lot since I would rather see him choke on his own vomit rather than hear his voice.

--Paul Kariya scored his 11th of the season. I didn't even know Paul was still playing. Seriously! I thought he quietly retired and went away.

I'm bored. Wait. Didn't I say that already? I want to break some packs. I have that feeling again. What's open 24 hours and sells cards? Maybe I will just go to bed early.
