I have made a few dents in some of my set needs thanks to quite a few generous people out there in the blogosphere...you know who you are.
I want to thank everyone who has sent me the packages over the last month or so. I wish I would have got off my duff and posted more trade posts about all the great things I have received and given credit where credit is due but for some reason, I just haven't been had the time for many posts outside of the norm. Work, blah, blah, blah, family, blah, blah, blah, no time...you've heard it all before so I won't bore you.
My 2009-10 Upper Deck Hockey set is now complete thanks to Nick (minus all the Young Guns, of course). This is the second (or third) set he has completed for me and I am grateful. I only needed 1 card so it was agonizing at best. When I was at the card show a month or so ago, I checked two different tables that had commons and neither of them had this card. That card I am speaking of...#373 Tomas Holmstrom. I am going to have to get his package out real soon.
I have also put a hurting on all three of the O-Pee-Chee sets from the last three years with packages from Pack Addict, Trader Crack, and a host of other traders. I think I have polished off about 15 2009-10 OPC, 50 2008-09 OPC, and another 50 or so 2009-10 OPC. Thanks guys. I have updated all my set need wantlists in case anyone else may have something. I can't wait until I can polish these ones off for good.

Trade with the Great Sports Name HOF
The latest package is brought to you by none other than Tim at the Great Sports Name Hall Of Fame. If you haven't seen this blog, what are you waiting for. Plus he collect Fred McGriff cards so he can't be all that bad. Anyway, I have been doing quite a bit of potential trade hunting lately and this one is one of those "I have no identity" trades that brought me a very eclectic mix of cards for my half-assed new collecting ventures.
As most of you may already know, I have sort of taken back up the baseball collecting. So in order to keep things consistent with my collecting of Pittsburgh stuff, Pirates have been the team of choice. I have also been contemplating putting together some collections of linebackers in football. I am not real sure where that is going to go yet because it is still in it's infancy. Of course, I am always looking for Steelers and Penguins. So in lieu of all these things, I present to you part 1 of the most interesting mix of cards I have ever gotten in a trade (that is it's official name) complete with comments.
PIRATE BOOTY...

-We start with Moises Alou in all his anorexic glory. I'm sure he wasn't but compared to guys of today, he is a stick figure.
-Brian Giles was a legend, according to Upper Deck. I'm not sure about that but I did always like Brian. Another example of squandered talent by the Pirates organization.
-Orlando Merced...I'll get to him later.
-3 guys I don't remember playing for the Bucs in Meares, McWilliams, and Oberkfell. Of course Ken's card is one of the '89 Bowman oversize monstrosities which I always hated because they do what this one did at the top because it doesn't fit in a page or sleeve correctly.
-I like the 2 Jason's here. Kendall is on the ground looking for a missing contact lense while Bay is watching his long ball travel out of the stadium.

-Here we have Mike Easler holding a mic. Probably getting ready to rap the National Anthem Pittsburgh style.
-Jim Winn...what a name for a pitcher...Winn.
-There are 2 Bobby Bo's on this page. BB was one of my favorite Pirates of all time (besides Bonds) and I was crushed when he went to the Mets. I've had a deep seeded hatred for the Mets ever since. At least they are still paying for him in their team salary.
-Scott Bullit and Lloyd McClendon from the same Topps set

-Next up is Oliver Perez. It's a more recent card, and therefore, I have no idea who that is.
-Ah, Denny Neagle in his Glamour Shots Senior Yearbook picture. How cute.
-Cecilio Guante...I don't know whether I like the scowl on his face more or the old school Pirate logo.
-I remember Paul Wagner a little but those other two guys in the middle row...?
-Here is a big head Barry card. I was always a fan of Barry despite his controversies. I was also always a fan of these cards. I always thought someone should have made an animated series out of these caricature sketches.
-Good ol' RJ and his drawn back batting stance. He was at a Little League clinic I went to as a kid. Obviously his teachings didn't rub off because here I am blogging instead of gearing up for spring training.
-One of my favorite cards of the batch...Jerry Reuss. I always remember pulling cards of him as a kid and wondering why somebody's grandfather was still playing baseball.
This post is getting long so it's being broken into two. Stay tuned for the rest.

3 Trade Pickups
I just received the first trade package of 2010 today after trading with my new friend Chris from Michigan. Somehow in by freak accident, Chris stumbled onto my website and offered up some sacrificial cards for trade. Since Chris collects Detroit teams, I was more than happy to unload some Lidstroms and an Yzerman for a few Steelers that I needed.
Nothing fancy. Just three for the PC.

2006 Topps Gold Parallel Hines Ward (#302/2006)
This is one of my favorite HW cards because it really captures the game. The snow falling and the muddied up pants remind me of what Steeler football is all about. Now I have the Gold version. Too bad it wasn't #86.

2008 SP Rookie Edition Rashard Mendenhall
I am still not 100% sold on Mendy. He has had too many instances of putting the ball on the ground. With Parker likely out before training camp, he is most likely going to become the featured back.

2006 Topps True Champions Terry Bradshaw
These cards were only found in Wal-Mart boxes of 2006 Topps Football. How can you go wrong with a Terry Bradshaw card, though? In my opinion, you can't. 4-Time Super Bowl Champ. You can't argue with that.
Thanks Chris, and your package is on it's way.

(Oh and let's not forget a warm DFG welcome to Captain Canuck, aka Brian from Waxaholic. The Captain has the fortunate (or unfortunate) task of being my 10th follower. Sorry, there is no prize. And if there were, you'd probably want to give it back.)

Big Mailday - - Lots of card goodness!! Part 2
As promised, some more of my big mailday rewards. You can click on the images for larger views.

The four on the left (top 2 and bottom 2) came in one transaction. It includes a Maxime Talbot rookie, a Jordan Staal, another one of those Crosby inserts that I am not sure if I need but will take anyway, and an old school Yzerman All Star card from 90-91 Upper Deck. I know I have that one already. In fact, checking my inventory, I already have 5 copies of it. It's Stevie Y though, so I'll take it.
The next two (top and bottom) were from a trade with a fellow Bench member. The Lemieux is needed for my collection and the Rick DiPietro rookie was just a filler for the trade. I didn't have one, I didn't really want one, but he is a player in my goalie book so I'll take it.
The Goligoski came from that blaster box I did a few weeks ago. It never got scanned so it is on here. However, the Jean Pronovost 69-70 card is a sweet addition to my vintage Penguins cards. Although not in the best condition, it is one that I didn't have and will look nice next to his 70-71 PSA 9 that I have. I don't know why but I love the old school blue Pens sweaters. I wish I could find one with the original Pens logo that looked like a "pigeon with a neckerchief".

These are some 1984-85 Topps Hockey that I needed as an upgrade. I have the entire set for this year (minus the Yzerman rookie) and since I won't be getting that card anytime soon, I decided in the meantime to upgrade the condition of the cards in the set. Considering what I gave up for these, not a bad deal.
