Yesterday, in an attempt to stop the epidemic of fake Rookie Premiere Autographs, Topps announced a change to their handling of authentication. Apparently, going forward, all certified autos will be sequentially numbered in foil.
This is finally great news for the hobby. At least going forward. However, nothing was mentioned to the fact that there was a Katrina scale flooding of the market already with fake autos. If we are ever going to remedy the problem, Topps and other card companies will need to adress this issue.
