The Dogfaced Daily Update

I decided to make an attempt to repair the "Dogfaced Daily" over there on the left side of the screen.  Many of you have used this as a jumping off point for perusing the latest hobby musings of bloggers out there in the past and if there are any of you that still come here, I wanted to get things in order.

After having gone through the list of sites, I realized there were a couple dozen in the feed that are either dead links or haven't been updated for over six months or more (like I can talk).  I have also voluntarily added about a dozen or so new blogs that haven't been there before.

If you have a blog that you would like to have added to the "Daily", drop me a line and I will add it.  I won't even ask for a follow back either because that's not what this is about.  I'm taking some small baby steps toward resurrecting this site and this is a good start.

Oh, and in case you were wondering about the Flair Showcase Hot Shots of Brett Hull...there's no reason for it other than because it looks like fire and I'm really cold right now.  It's -11F or -24ish for my Celsius friends (wind chill is closer to negative "I give up on life").

Overreacting? Nah. Just Cleaning The Blogroll

So after the deflating loss by the Seahawks in the Superbowl yesterday (See that!  See what I did there?), I thought I would begin my day by purging my blogroll

over there < <<<<<<<< <

of any and all blogs that made mention of the Cheatriots winning the game, deserving to win, congratulating them, or praising their ability to fight hard and come away with the victory.  Then I realized there would be basically nothing left.

So instead, it's time for some cleaning.  I have decided to go through the roll and purge all of the forgotten blogs, the ones relegated to the milk cartons of the internet.  I have also begun my search for some new reading and will be adding blogs at a feverish pace.

If you have a blog that would like to be here, let me know.  It can be card related, hockey related, sports related, or ... well that's pretty much it.

A Call To Bloggers

I probably do this a couple times so if you are looking for content, go somewhere else for a minute.  I wanted to call out all the bloggers and readers of The Real DFG for a minute and request some assistance.

I have been noticing that over the last few months, readership seems to be down, not just on my blog but on many bloggers sites out there.  Now I'm not sure what to contribute that to.  Is it the new Google search BS that has been rocking the SEO world?  Is it the fact that the content we are creating isn't "read" worthy?  Is it just everyone on earth is just too busy?  I don't have an answer.

But here is what I do know.  I have quite a few people that come here, not just for my witty and entertaining posts, but for the access to other blogs over here on the right hand side with my Dogfaced Daily.  This is my blogroll so to speak.  I try to keep it as updated, diverse, and comprehensive as I possibly can.  As such, I tend to deactivate any sites that haven't had any activity for more than 6 months.  I know we are all busy and sometimes get in a rut but even I don't generally go more than 6 months without posting something on one of my blogs.

With that being said, I would like to encourage any one with a blog, any reader of this blog, or anyone in general to take a look at the blog roll over there.  If there is a blog that you feel should be there, comment with the address and I will try to add it.  If you used to see one and it has disappeared, let me know and I will check it and find out why.  Also, add me to your blog lists if you don't mind.  Follow my blog, this one or any of the others (although I don't post on the Garage much, if at all anymore...the actual garage kind of blew up).  Also follow me on Twitter or whatever else I have linked to over there.  I promise I won't bombard you with random tweets of what I am doing every waking moment of the day.

I am extremely appreciative of all of you that read my drivel on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis.  In one way or another, I think we are all dependent upon each other.  This is a great community.  I am very happy to be a part of it.

Cleaning The "Dogfaced Daily" Blogroll

This is just a short "blog cleaning" post that I wanted to bring up regarding my own blogroll over there on the right hand side of your screen (assuming you are using a computer or not looking at this in mobile mode).

I know there are some of you out there that are avid readers but also have blogs of your own.  If I have yours listed over there, great.  If not, leave me a comment and let me know what it is so I can add it.  If you know someone that has a great blog, send them my way too.  I want to try and keep things interesting and as most of you know, I have a variety of blogs, not just hockey related.  Anything that has to do with sports or the hobby is fair game (No porn though...Well maybe porn....No, no porn).  I enjoy having a multitude of things to read and I know you do too.  It keeps me sane.

I have actually learned over the past four years of blogging that there are quite a few people that come to my site just for the blog roll (hopefully they read a little too).  In an effort to keep things as fresh as possible, I have decided to do some cleaning of what I would call "dormant" blogs.  These are the ones that have not posted anything in over 8 months.  I chose 8 months because, well, I like the number 8.  It's fun, it gives me energy and it's a great way to stay in shape.  I'm not wiping them off the face of the earth.  I am just removing them from the blog roll for the time being until they awaken from their slumber.  So in order to offset that, I need replacements, hence the request in the last paragraph.

Also, if you are a regular reader (or semi-regular, or just found this site by accident), take a second and hit that "JOIN THE SITE" button over there under the Wall of Fame heading.  You don't have to have a blog either.  You can join with your Google, Yahoo, or Twitter IDs also.  The reasons...I have some things planned on the horizon that I would like to have open to members of the WOF including some contests, giveaways, and possibly another larger scale multi-box break.  Those of you privileged ones will be the first to know about them.

So everyone take a minute and help me with my spring "blog cleaning".

(Plus +1 if you got the "bike rider guy" reference up there...oh, wait this doesn't have that google plus thingy)
