Today in Penguins History 10/18/2014
Today in Penguins history back in 2014, Sidney Crosby scored his 500th NHL assist on home ice against the New York Islanders. The Penguins won the game 3-1 at Consol and Crosby was the first star of the game.
The accomplishment came after setting up two goals, #499 to Evgeni Malkin on the power play and #500 on Patric Hornqvist's empty netter to seal the game. Only five other players had ever reached that pinnacle (in 554 games)...Gretzky, Lemieux, Peter Stastny, Bobby Orr, and Peter Forsberg scored his in three less games.
