As I was perusing some boxes I found a few more redemptions that had never been redeemed. These were in addition to the ones I found the other day. (In case anyone was wondering, I have held on the Panthers one from Upper Deck for now but I redeemed to Panini one.) Both of these new found ones were from Panini. The first was from the 2011 Panini Football Rookies and Stars set. It was a Longevity Rookies Signatures card, I believe of Tyron Smith of the Cowboys. Not sure who he is or if he still exists but whatever, free card. The second was from 2011-12 Playoff Contenders Hockey. It was supposed to be a NHL INK Duals Gold card of Ryan McDonagh and Tim Erixon. This one I had to see because I have heard of these being skipped over in favor of replacements by Panini.
So I submitted my request on 3/2/2013...
Here you can see it was submitted at 9:05 PM. I also found out from the page that it was numbered out of #25, which was even cooler. What happened next was unbelievable.
I received the email acknowledgement that the order had processed and I would be waiting the 4-6 weeks like everyone else in the world. Then, about 10 minutes later, I received an additional email from Panini stating that the card was ready and would be shipped the next day. WHAT???? "Impossible", I said. "Completely ludicrous", I exclaimed. Of course all these exclamations were to myself.
Well guess what was in the mail yesterday???
This little guy..
It took basically 5 days to receive this. 5! That's an all time record for me and I bet most of you out there haven't received anything this fast. If you have, by all means share your story in the comments. Otherwise, bask in the dual-auto gold glory.
That is awesome! Too bad the Rangers traded Erixon though(although Nash has been worth it). McDonagh is a beast, so it's still a pretty awesome card. If I had anything Pittsburgh related, I'd ask if you'd like to trade, but I don't. But still a nice card. Congrats! :)
ReplyDeleteI just wish he didn't sign only his initials. At least you can kind of see Erixon's name.
Deletecool card.
ReplyDelete*ahem* Tyron Smith is the Cowboy's #1 pick from 2011. He immediately became the starter at right tackle, playing in all 16 games. In 2012 he flipped to left tackle, again playing in all 16 games.
The 6'6", 310lb tackle is also the youngest player in football, starting his career at 20 years of age.
I have t-shirts that old....
I should have known. But in my defense, I'm not a Boys fan, i didn't bother to look him up, and I'm not a Boys fan. Thank you for setting the record straight.
DeleteA good redemption story, thats a white whale right there! I'm still waiting for a Jim Palmer auto and a Bryce Harper auto from Topps going on 6 months now ..
ReplyDeleteI heard some bad stories about those Harper Topps autos. Not that you will succumb to the same fate but it seemed like they were having a difficult time getting everything signed.
DeleteNice, it's been way more than 6 weeks since I submitted my redemption from Panini, what do you suggest I do? Should I give them a call?
ReplyDeleteI don't know if there is anything you can do other than wait the "required" time and then either wait some more or request a replacement. Like I said, this is definitely an anomaly for my redemption experiences.
DeleteI pulled two Contenders redemptions from my tax refund splurge, a booklet and a gold NHL ink. It's been longer than 5 days for me, haha!!
ReplyDeleteA booklet? That will be a sight to behold whenever you get it.
DeleteYeah, not really sure what to expect. It's a Morrow/Setoguchi/Lehtonen/Backstrom Matchup Booklet. From the little research I've done it will probably be four sticker autos, so I'm sure I'll be trading or selling it.
