Group Break #4: 2002-03 Pacific Quest For The Cup

Box #4 was an interesting box because of all the holo-foil printing that went on.  Late 90s and early 2000s sets went ape-$#!@ over this stuff.  It was on everything.  This set, the 2002-03 Pacific Quest For The Cup was no different.  We got a couple nice hits out of this one too, in my opinion.  Check out the video, which, is finally covered in one instead of two.  After uploading the last two part-er, YouTube sent me notification that I can now upload 15 minute or longer movies.  About 8 videos too late but at least we should be good from here on out.

Here are some scans of the non-base cards.

First the inserts...

There were two of these in the box which is bizarre.

And the rookies, both gold parallel and regular base...The scans are bad because of the foil.

 Steve Eminger Gold Parallel Rookie

Alexei Smirnov Base Rookie

 Lynn Loyns Base Rookie

Tomas Malec Base Rookie

Spezza Gold Parallel Rookie (in his high school year book picture)
 Michael Cammelleri Base Rookie

Jeff Taffe Base Rookie

A couple more inserts I forgot...Calder Contenders (neither of which won the darn thing because it went to Dany Heatley in 2001-02)

The gold base parallels...

If you didn't catch all that in the video, this goes to the Rangers since it is the owner of the card, even though Kovy is in a Pens jersey (I have enough from this break already).

And finally, the "hits"...

Here is the updated count list.  Everybody has at least 30 cards except for two participants at this point in the game.  Hopefully everyone will have between 40-60 cards by the end of this whole thing.  At least, that was my vision when this started.  This way, the cost per card will be between $.16 and $.25 which, at least to me, is more than reasonable for a group break (especially when that includes shipping.  We will see.

We also have two boxes left with 6 hits out there (lets hope that none of them are Dallas or Pittsburgh).

  1. This may be the best box yet. The Messier card definitely made my day! Can't wait to see what's next!

  2. That definitely was one of the best hits thus far. But the "game changer" is in the next box. I should have that break posted tonight or tomorrow.
